.HEIC is the file extension that Apple have chosen for .HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) files taken with their devices. RiskWise will accept these images as uploads but some customers have reported issues viewing them on their devices.
If you are unable to view .HEIC images downloaded from RiskWise you will most likely have to update the operating system of the device you are using. Both Windows 10 and MacOS High Sierra support the new image format out of the box.
If updating your operating system isn't possible you can avoid the issue by changing your device settings to store photos in the more compatible .jpg format.
To disable HEIF format on iPhones
Settings > Camera > Formats. Change to Most Compatible
If transferring files you can make them compatible by
Go to Settings > Photos and change the “Transfer to PC or Mac” to Automatic
Further info on this format can be found at: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT207022
Converting existing files
If you have existing files that are already saved in one of these newer formats (.heif/.heic) you may wish to convert them to a more compatible format. There are a number of tools available that can easily be found online by searching for "HEIC converter" in your search engine of choice.
