What is the difference between a Consumption and Reading meter on RiskWise?

When recording a new meter on RiskWise you are asked to confirm the Utility Type from a dropdown list as shown below:

When you have selected this you are then asked to select the Data Type, this can either be a ‘Consumption Recording’ or a ’Meter Reading’.

There is a significant difference between these two, as one is whereby you are only required to enter the difference – Consumption Recording, and the other is whereby you are required to enter the exact number from the meter – Meter Reading. This is because the system will then automatically calculate the consumption as the difference.

As Meter Readings are cumulative numbers there has to be a maximum number the meter can reach before it resets back to ‘0’.
