The meter reading cap is the highest number the meter will reach, before it returns to a zero reading.
This will normally be 99999 with as many nines as there are digits in the reading.
This feature means that if a meter "rolls over" to zero, the system will understand and calculate the true energy consumption. It will also provide a validation of the number of digits required for a true reading.
